The BLU Stable Longboard Classic A Beaming Success
Fistral Beach Played Host To Some Of The Worlds Best Longboarders Under Blazing Sunshine and Epic Surf
After several postponements due to bad conditions the British Longboard Union & Stable Longboard Classic finally took place Saturday 14th April. The competitors and reverlers alike were met with glorious conditions. The sun was shining and the surf was well and truly firing. It was a perfect Cornish day.
Throughout the day we were treated to a fantastic bout of surfing. During the low tide heats we saw barrels rolling through and peeling rights and saw Ben Skinner get some well earned time in the green room. There were plenty of highlights across the day, each surfer was pushing themselves in the perfect conditions.
In the mens open we saw raw power from the likes of Ben Skinner and Adam ‘Bearman’ Griffiths and fantastic flair from Sam Bleakley. All of which took pole positions. The Womens Open saw an equally heated contest with big turns from Tina Beresford and gracious boardwalking from Jenny Briant and Jen Pendlebury. There was also a brilliant level of surfing from the Under 18’s and Under 16’s Divisions (boys and girls) which saw the youngsters battle the sizey set waves. The future is certainly looking bright. However, the old boys showed us they still got it in the Grand Masters and Masters Division with some stellar surfing. There was also some retrospective surfing to be had in the Single Fin Divisions which saw Ben Skinner power through to take the win.
As the day came to a close and the sun started to set behind the rolling waves it was hard not to be left overwhelmingly satisfied with the event. It was a glorious Saturday for the competitors, observers, beach goers and those at the bar!
